Restorative Dentistry

There are countless reasons why we put off dental work, ranging from anxiety to affordability concerns. In that interim, problems ranging from periodontal disease to tooth decay to physical trauma can take hold of your smile. You may be self-conscious about your smile’s appearance, or struggle to chew normally. You may be in pain from cavities or exposed nerves.

It’s time to return your smile to its former glory – and bring back health, comfort and happiness.

Restorative dentistry allows patients to bounce back from disease or damage. Dr. Phillippi will meet with you and discuss your goals for your restoration, procedures that he recommends, and your overall journey back to a healthy smile.

Some of the procedures listed below might be involved in your restorative plan. Click the headings to see answers to frequently asked questions – and bring any questions of your own to your consultation.

Restorative Dental Treatments

Crowns are caps that fit over damaged or decayed teeth. A crown surrounds the remaining tooth structure to protect and preserve it. Your crowns will blend with your surrounding teeth to form a beautiful smile that feels good and functions well.

  • Great for patients who: Have teeth with multiple cavities or lost structure.

A bridge places a false tooth in the gap left behind by a missing tooth. Crowns on either side of the false tooth attach to remaining adjacent teeth. A bridge replaces the crown of a missing tooth and is bonded in place, so it’s always present.

  • Great for patients who: Have lost a single tooth and are not interested in a dental implant.

Dental Implants

Implants are titanium screws that bond with the jaw bone to provide a foundation for restorations. The implant material integrates with the bone tissue to become a part of your jaw structure. Implants offer a long-term solution for missing teeth and help patients avoid some of the more serious consequences of tooth loss (like bone loss).

  • Great for patients who have: One or more missing teeth that they would like to restore in a comprehensive fashion.

Full and Partial Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetics that replace spans of missing teeth. A partial denture replaces some teeth in the upper or lower jaw – a full denture replaces all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Dentures allow patients to eat, speak and live their lives comfortably.

  • Great for patients who have: Lost most or all of their teeth.
